Bell Hooks Visits Cal Poly

Last night many MCRP students attended a lecture by Ms. Bell Hooks, a renowned feminist scholar and activist brought to Cal Poly by the Office of University Diversity and Inclusivity. Ms. Hooks offered a refreshing and thought-provoking dialogue on race, class, gender, the intersection of the three, and what she calls 'radical openness'. She discussed issues pertaining to diversity in San Luis Obispo, and many pertinent social justice issues across the nation. This was a unique opportunity provided to Cal Poly students, and reminds us, especially as planners, to continue to celebrate and strive towards understanding, diversity, inclusivity.
