Tell us about your internship! [Jana]

It is hard to believe that the summer has only weeks left. MCRPers have been off doing amazing things all around the nation...and doing a great job of bringing Dr. Boz with them. Now is the time to broadcast all of the great projects you have been working on, or tell us about a travel or school adventure you have been a part of. Sharing your internship/work/school/life adventures is just one way to strengthen the GPSA organization and our ability to network amongst each other.

To start us off, Jana has been working for Lisa Wise Consulting (LWC), a private consulting firm out of San Luis Obispo. This summer, she has worked on specific plans for Alameda County and Rancho Cucamonga, as well as participating in the code update for the City of Austin, TX. LWC also has offices in LA and SF, but Jana has really enjoyed the opportunity to spend time in San Luis Obispo over the summer, allowing her to bike to work and take beach breaks on the weekend. Not having an undergraduate degree in planning or holding a position in a private consulting firm before, LWC has helped Jana tremendounsly in becoming more familiar and comfortable with the planning profession. Jana will continue her internship into the 2015-2016 school year and hopes to learn more about economic development and Form-Based Codes.
